Welcome to Plani-Bus, the STO’s trip planner. This help section describes how to get a personalized itinerary, including connections with OC Transpo buses, or how to view the timetable for a bus route in the STO’s system.
Three quick ways are available to help you plan your itinerary. You can click directly on the map to set your Departure and Destination locations, search by itinerary, or search for a timetable for a specific bus route.
You can get help at any time by clicking the question marks to the right of each selection area or by watching the two short videos explaining the process.
The STO cannot guarantee the accuracy of information coming from OC Transpo.
Please take note that the language of display of the Plani-Bus is determined by the language of the browser of your computer.
1- Plan a trip
To plan a trip and get the itinerary, please provide the following information:
Step 1: Departure using the map or the dropdown lists on each search tab (search by Landmark, Bus stop, Intersection, Address, History). Step 2: Destination using the map or the dropdown lists on each search tab (search by Landmark, Bus stop, Intersection, Address, History). Step 3: Date and time of the trip. Step 4: Travel options for the itinerary. Once you have completed these sections, click Get the itinerary.
Itinerary The Plan a trip results page includes the request Details, the Steps in your itinerary, any applicable Notice to Riders, and a few useful features. Search Details The summary lists the main elements taken into account to create the itinerary (such as the departure, destination, date and time of the trip, and duration). Your personalized itinerary Your itinerary is presented in steps according to the different types of travel involved (walk, bus, wait time at bus stops, etc.). The steps are presented as a summary, but you can see more information for each one by clicking the " + " icon. The magnifying glass beside each step lets you zoom in to this part of the itinerary on the map. Notices to Riders Notices to riders are listed at the bottom of the itinerary if service for a suggested bus route is affected in some way (service disruptions, etc.). Useful features The useful features include an option to send the itinerary by E-mail or to Print the itinerary.
The following features allow you to get different itineraries:
Modify the search takes you back to the Plan a trip page and shows your last selections. You can then make any desired changes and search again. Return itinerary takes you to back to the Plan a trip page but reverses your departure and destination locations. You can then set the time for your return itinerary and another destination if you wish. Leave earlier refreshes the itinerary with the previous departure time. Leave later refreshes the itinerary with the next possible departure time. Alternative itinerary refreshes the itinerary taking other routes into consideration.
To view the times of major stops along a route or the timetable for a given stop:
Step 1 : Select the Date for which you want to view a timetable. Step 2 : Select the Bus route for which you want to view a timetable.
Once you have completed steps 1 and 2, the bus route is displayed and you can click Show route timetable to see the times for the major bus stops on the route. Step 3 : Select the Bus stop for which you want to view a timetable.
If you complete step 3, you can click Show bus stop timetable to see the timetable for the specified stop. Timetable Show route timetable shows the times for a predefined set of stops on the route.
Show bus stop timetable shows the times that the bus passes the specified stop.
Useful features You can do the following for both options:
Print the timetable. Click View another timetable to return to the View a timetable page to modify your selection and get other timetables. Click View destination times when the departure times are shown, or click View departure times when the destination times are shown. Notice to Riders A legend for the Notice to Riders is displayed if public information messages apply to the bus route or to any stop times.
At the bottom of the page, quick links take you to the Transit map, Holidays, Fares and Roadwork information.
